Questo è il formato della UEFA Champions League, in cui i primi 42 Paesi hanno iscritto i loro campioni e hanno una fase a gironi con 2 gruppi di 4 squadre.
L'Europa League ha 128 squadre, ovvero i 2-5° posti delle nazioni 1-10, i secondi posti delle nazioni 11-42 e i campioni degli altri Paesi.
